Can you replace free standing range with slide in

While freestanding ranges are a good choice for many kitchens, it goes without saying that they can often look a little dated. These stoves have bulky backs which doesn’t fit with many modern aesthetics.

They aren’t attached to other walls or cabinets, and this can often mean that they’re a lot easier to install. A slide in range, however, is definitely the choice for many modern homes.

They don’t have bulky back panels and the controls are usually easier to reach.

So, with this in mind, is it possible to replace the free standing range with a slide in one? Well, it depends on your kitchen, since you will need to consider the countertops and whether they will fit with your range.

If you wish to replace your freestanding range with a slide in model, you are going to have to ensure that you have a tile backsplash to go behind the new cabinets.

Sometimes though, it can often be easier to stick with a freestanding range if you already have one since they tend to be a little easier to set up.

Does a slide-in range need countertop behind it

In short, you don’t strictly need to have a countertop behind your slide in range. It’s not entirely necessary. With that being said, it’s often best to have something that exists in the gap between the stove and the range.

If possible, it’s a good idea to have a counter that will stand right behind it, though this isn’t always an option for every homeowner.

Alternatively, you can get a stove extender to go in this gap instead. Whatever you do, you don’t want to leave the gap in place.

This is because things like your utensils and food can end up getting dropped behind the range. As such, you’ll have to manually pull out the range all the time to clean out the debris and utensils.

This is pretty time consuming, so it’s often best to avoid this situation.

There comes a time when you want to replace your range, and sometimes, your old style of range may not be the best choice for you.

A slide in range can often be a great choice, since they will blend in much better with the counters and cabinets around your stove.

A slide in range is a good choice if you are planning on totally rebuilding your kitchen too, since you can choose cabinets that will fit with the range.

They’re relatively affordable, and drop in ranges aren’t as popular as they once were. Getting a slide in range can be a good way to modernize your kitchen.

Thankfully, you can replace a drop in range and get a slide in range instead if you wish to do so. The process is fairly simple to do too. You will just need to start off by measuring the size of range that you need, prioritizing the width.

Then, you will need to find a slide in unit to fit in that space, and make any cuts and adjustments on the cabinets and countertops.

You can actually do this yourself – you don’t need to replace your entire kitchen in order to do it. You will also need to remember that a slide in range will plug right into an outlet.

It’s not possible to direct wire them. Keep this in mind when you’re replacing your drop in range with a slide in range.

Are drop in ranges hardwired

So, are drop in ranges hard wired? Well, in short, the answer is yes. A drop in range will usually be circuit wired right into the connection panel for the appliance. They are built in appliances, and so they are hardwired.

This is different to many other kinds of ranges. For instance, a free standing range may plug right into an outlet which could be more convenient for some kinds of homes.

Drop in ranges can also be rather expensive to install, and are a lot harder to come by since they are going out of fashion as time goes on.

There are also other kinds of appliances in your kitchen that may be hardwired too, such as dishwashers or disposers.

Otherwise, you will find that the vast majority of appliances in your kitchen use cords or plugs instead.
