Fortunately, the Smartthings Hub comes with an ethernet cable that you will plug into your Wi-Fi router.

Plug the Smartthings Hub into The Wall Outlet

Take the Smartthings Hub power cable and plug its adapter inside your power outlet on the wall. Attach the cable’s connector to the back of the Smartthings hub. Be sure to switch the wall outlet on so that your Smartthings Hub can begin to function.

Download and Open the Smartthings App

You’re now ready to start the setup process. Download the Smartthings app from the Play Store or App Store, depending on your smartphone’s operating system. Be sure to launch the app after successfully downloading it.

Register the Smartthings Hub

If you have never used Smartthings Hub before, you might need to create an account on the Smartthings app you just downloaded. But if you created an account before, you will need to sign in click on the set up a new account button to get started.

Or sign in if you already have an account.

Tap the Menu button on the top left section of your smartphone’s screen, and select Location from the drop-down list. Choose your location if you had an account before, or select Add New Location if you just created an account a while ago.

Add your Smartthings Hub by tapping the Menu button, then select settings. From settings, select Add a Hub before entering the six-character welcome code.

Tap the Next button after entering the welcome code. The press Continue > Grand Location Permission > Allow. Click on This is My Location to confirm your location.  Be sure to tap Done to complete the registration process.

Add Smartthings Devices

After completing the registration process, you are ready to add Smartthings devices to your Smartthings hub. Open the Smartthings app on your phone and tap on Add Device. Proceed to select Add Device Manually.

This will take you to a list of device types. Be sure to choose the device type you want to add.

If you don’t see the device type, you can search for its name on the search box function. Once you have found the device type, be sure to click on it and follow the instructions to add your Smartthings device to your Smartthings hub.

Click Edit to rename the Smartthings device you’ve just added. Click Done after you’ve successfully renamed the Smartthings device. Tap Save to complete the entire process.
